A kickplate, also known as a toeboard by OSHA, is usually a wooden or metallic strip located horizontally near the edge of platforms such as roofs, working platforms, or scaffolding. Its primary function is to guard the edge to ensure that tools, materials, and debris do not fall and harm workers or damage equipment on the lower level.
Applications
- Used to prevent tools and materials from falling off scaffolding and elevated platforms.
- Ensures safety on various industrial surfaces where work is performed at height.
- Installed around openings and edges to increase safety in any elevated workspace.
For example, the RollaStep TR Series Rolling Ladder features a full toeboard around the work platform to prevent slips and tool drops, improving safety in warehousing and loading tasks. Similarly, the G Series platform includes a full toeboard to prevent slips and tool misplacement, ensuring safe operation during use.
